Who Inspired Me to Become a Teacher?

CAN YOU GUESS WHO??? Ok, so you might have noticed that the girl on the left is ME (circa 1998 I think) and the beautiful lady on the right is Mrs Braund. Mrs Braund was my Principal at primary school from the time I was in Grade 1 until I hit Grade 7 (we finish primary school in Grade 8 in Canada).

Mrs Braund is one of the reasons why I became a teacher, this might sound kinda crazy, but I am the crazy art teacher that I am today because of this fabulous woman!

From my early schooling days I can seriously remember coming home after school and pretending to be Mrs Braund at assembly (or parade for all you Aussies reading). I would stand up on the fireplace mantel at home and slouch my glasses on my nose like Mrs Braund. I would pretend to "read" the notices or stories for the students at assembly. I was completely inspired by her! I knew that day, that I wanted to be just like Mrs Braund when I grew up! I wanted to be a teacher! I wanted to be a caring, strong, independent, female leader with an amazing sense of humour and zest for life!

Now the story doesn't stop there... the last time I went home to Canada (2019) I was sooo lucky to be able to catch up with Mrs Braund after 21 YEARS!!!! How cool is that! Turns out Mrs Braund loves a beer or two and so do I (well I actually don't like beer but I love vodka and wine)! So my sister @breazie8 , my primary school bestie @katiehalagian and I arranged to catch up with her! It was sooo cool to be able to see her after all of those years! (Swipe to see our photo)

Thank you, Mrs Braund for being such an inspiring female role model to me! I honestly don't know where I'd be today if it wasn't for you!
